Mandatory lights and retroreflectors for trailers
For your trailer's lights and reflectors to meet Dutch MOT requirements, it is important to know what these are. You can read exactly in the RDW's APK handbook but below we have already listed the most important items for you.
In addition, added items are mandatory from certain dates of entry into service of the trailer. Mandatory in case of entry into service after the mentioned date are:
The number of side-marker lamps and reflectors depends on the total length of the trailer. Article 120 of the handbook says the following in this regard:
- if the vehicle is longer than 6.00m, at least one side-marker lamp and one retroreflector must be located in the middle third of the vehicle
- the distance between the side-marker lamps and the distance between the retro-reflectors must not exceed 4.00m
- the distance of the most forward side-marker lamp and of the most forward retro-reflector from the extreme front edge of the vehicle must not exceed 4.00m
- the distance of the rearmost side-marker lamp and of the rearmost retro-reflector from the extreme rear of the vehicle shall not exceed 1.00m.
